1 Week!

Original Date: August.31.2011

I have been in Japan for a week now, today. It feels like it`s been longer since so many things have happened already.
My host family doesn`t have wifi yet, so I haven`t been able to post anything like I wanted to. (Sorry Mom)
My host family is really great; they have hosted before, so they know all the awkwardness and confusion we go through. My host mom helps me study and corrects my Japanese when I say something weird or stupid. My host father showed me how to get to and from school my first day; riding the subway and then waiting for me at the subway after school. Miyu, my sister, goes to the same school as me so she showed me around. I am really glad to have such a nice host family.
I started school the day after I arrived, which wasn`t really fun at first since I was still battling my jet lag. Although, now that I am pretty much past the laggy-ness, It`s really interesting. The scheduling is pretty strange; they go to different classes everyday and even have a different time schedule for certain days. I gave up on trying to figure it out and just go with whatever my classmates are doing. They help me whenever I am confused and such, so I don`t feel nervous or uneasy anymore.
I really like my school uniform, it`s a lot cuter than the one I had in Gunma. Although, the shoes my school lent to me were a tiny bit small. I didn’t know this until I had walked to school and back, rubbing the skin from my heels and pinky toes off; my feet have never looked so bad. I felt terriblesince my school only had a few pairs to lend and was debating whether or not I should tell my host mom. She saw my feet soon after and immedeteley drove me to the store so I could buy band-aids and new shoes, the whole time saying “かわいそうに”(Poor thing!) I have never been more grateful for shoes.
All in all, I am really enjoying it here, and learning comes a lot quicker than back at home. I hope no one at home is worrying about me, everything is really incredible.
There is so much more happening, but I don`t want this post to drag on and on. Haha
